Plant Health Program

Professional Lawn & Garden Care Throughout the Year

Healthy lawns and gardens don’t happen from one fertiliser application or an occasional spray.

They require different care at different times of year.

The Green Alchemy Plant Health Program provides seven strategically timed visits annually, with each visit designed around the seasonal needs of your lawn and garden.

Instead of waiting until weeds, pests, poor growth or other problems become obvious, we take a proactive approach to managing the property throughout the year.

What the Program Includes

Your program includes:

Lawn Nutrition

Seasonal fertiliser applications provide the nutrients required to support healthy growth, colour and recovery.

Weed Management

Broadleaf and pre-emergent weed treatments are used at appropriate times to help reduce weed pressure and maintain a cleaner lawn.

Lawn Pest Management

Preventative and targeted treatments help protect lawns from damaging insects when seasonal conditions make them most vulnerable.

Soil & Moisture Management

Wetting agents and other soil treatments are used where appropriate to improve water movement and support healthier growing conditions.

Garden Nutrition

Garden plants receive seasonal nutrition to support growth, flowering and overall plant health.

Seaweed & Biological Treatments

Selected treatments are incorporated through the year to support soil and plant health.

Plant Health Monitoring

Each visit is also an opportunity to observe changes in the property and identify developing pest, disease, nutrition or plant-health issues.

Spot Weed Treatment

Where appropriate, weeds in garden beds and paths can be spot treated as part of scheduled visits.

Seven Visits. Timed Around the Seasons.

The program runs throughout the year rather than concentrating all treatments into spring.

That allows us to respond to the changing needs of the property through autumn, winter, spring and summer.

Each visit has a purpose.

Rather than applying the same products every time, treatments change according to the season and conditions.

Who Is the Program For?

The Plant Health Program is ideal for homeowners who:

● Care about the appearance and health of their property

● Want professional ongoing lawn and garden care

● Prefer preventative management rather than waiting for problems

● Want a qualified horticulturist assessing the property throughout the year

● Would rather have seasonal treatments professionally managed than work out what to apply and when themselves

It is particularly well suited to established gardens where lawns, ornamental plants and garden beds all need ongoing care.

What Isn’t Included?

The Plant Health Program is focused specifically on lawn and garden health treatments.

It does not include:

● Lawn mowing

● Routine pruning

● Green waste removal

● General hand weeding

● General garden maintenance

For selected Plant Health Program clients, these additional horticultural tasks may be available through our Total Garden Care service.

Start With Green Alchemy

If you’d like a healthier lawn and garden without having to manage every treatment yourself, get in touch.

We can discuss your property, what you’re currently experiencing and whether the Plant Health Program is a good fit.

Total Garden Care

Premium Ongoing Horticultural Care

Some gardens need more than seasonal treatments.

For selected Plant Health Program clients, Green Alchemy offers Total Garden Care — an ongoing horticultural maintenance service designed to keep established gardens healthy, structured and well presented throughout the year.

This isn’t a general gardening service.

It is intended for customers who want Green Alchemy to take a more complete role in looking after their property.

What Total Garden Care Can Include

Depending on the garden and season, ongoing work may include:

● Pruning and shaping shrubs

● Hedge maintenance

● Deadheading

● Seasonal cut-backs

● Plant training and support

● Selective weed management

● Garden presentation

● Monitoring plant performance

● Identifying pest and disease issues

● Seasonal horticultural tasks

● General care of established garden beds

The exact scope is tailored to the property.

A More Complete Approach

Because Total Garden Care is integrated with the Plant Health Program, we are already familiar with the property, its plants and its seasonal needs.

That means maintenance isn’t treated as an isolated tidy-up.

We can consider the bigger picture:

● What needs pruning now?

● What should be left until another season?

● Which plants are declining?

● Which plants are becoming too dominant?

● Are pests or disease developing?

● Is nutrition contributing to poor growth?

● How can the garden be kept attractive without unnecessary intervention?

The aim is to maintain a garden properly — not simply make it look tidier for a week.

Available to Selected Plant Health Program Clients

Total Garden Care is deliberately limited.

Rather than providing general maintenance to a large number of properties, we work with a smaller number of suitable gardens where ongoing professional horticultural care provides real value.

If you’re already part of the Green Alchemy Plant Health Program and would like us to take a more active role in maintaining your garden, please ask about availability.

Seasonal Pruning

Fruit Trees, Roses & Hedges

Pruning is one of those jobs where timing and technique matter.

Done properly, pruning can improve plant structure, flowering, fruit production, appearance and long-term health.

Done poorly, it can create weak growth, reduce flowering and fruiting, or leave plants permanently misshapen.

Green Alchemy provides professional seasonal pruning throughout Ballarat and surrounding areas.

Fruit Tree Pruning

Fruit trees often benefit from regular pruning to manage size, improve structure and maintain productive growth.

Depending on the type of tree and the result required, pruning may involve:

● Removing dead, damaged or crossing branches

● Improving structure

● Managing height and spread

● Opening crowded growth

● Encouraging productive fruiting wood

● Correcting years of poor or neglected pruning

Different fruit trees require different approaches, and not every tree should be pruned in the same way or at the same time.

We assess each tree individually before pruning.

Rose Pruning

Good seasonal pruning helps roses maintain strong structure and encourages healthy new growth and flowering.

Our rose pruning service may include:

● Removing dead or weak growth

● Removing crossing or congested stems

● Reducing and shaping plants

● Encouraging healthy new shoots

● Managing established or overgrown roses

Where appropriate, we can also identify common health issues affecting roses and recommend treatment.

Hedge Pruning

Established hedges need regular pruning to maintain their shape, density and size.

Green Alchemy provides professional hedge pruning for established residential gardens, including:

● Height reduction

● Width reduction

● Reshaping

● Routine seasonal trimming

● Corrective pruning of overgrown hedges

Where significant reductions are required, we consider the plant species and its ability to recover before recommending how hard it should be cut back.

Seasonal Availability

The best time to prune depends on the plant.

Many roses and deciduous fruit trees are pruned during winter, while other fruit trees and hedges are better pruned at different stages of the year.

If you’re unsure whether now is the right time, send us a photo or get in touch and we’ll advise whether the job should be booked now or left until a more appropriate season.
